Although we have members all over the country, Suffolk is the county that's best represented in the membership, simply because that's where the club started. Therefore, we have a full programme of events in Suffolk. Our first event was the Radar Run on 13th April and it was a resounding success. See the pictures on the IceniCAM website. This was followed by the East Anglian Run on 18th May, the Horham Bygones Run on 15 June, the Peninsularis Run on 6 July and Ef's Essex Excursion on 3 August. Again, there are pictures on the IceniCAM website of the East Anglian Run, the Horham Bygones Run, the Peninsularis Run and Ef's Essex Excursion.
The next runs in Suffolk will be the Coprolite Run on 7 September.
We will be staging a club stand at the Copdock Show in October, and Kneel's Wheels plus the AGM in in November. December is a quiet month and then it's the Mince Pie Run in January
In addition to all that, members in the Ipswich and Felixstowe area are regularly meeting every week - on Tuesday evenings at Walton Half Moon.
Paul Efreme revived Ef's Essex Excursion this year; it was at South Hanningfield Village Hall on Sunday 3rd August. There's a idea in the offing for another run in Essex, though it maybe next year when we try this one.
The 'St Neots Boys', Ralph Richardson & Alex Lees, have come up with the idea of holding a West Anglian Run on 28th September. This will take in villages around North Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire starting from Duloe village hall.
Above all, we want the club to be driven by the enthusiasm of its members so, if you have any ideas, don't hesitate to let us know them.
EACC and FMCC meeting at Half Moon, Walton, Felixstowe, around 9:30pm.
The fifth Coprolite Run & Mopedjumble starts from Bucklesham Village Hall, featuring full reception facilities and free refreshments on arrival. A fully marked and classic local course to Felixstowe Ferry, and foil twin to the Radar Run. Riders who completed the Bawdsey Point section of The Radar Run might be interested in the contrast of the opposite view back across the Deben estuary. A fabulous riders' course on both legs, especially as the route bursts out onto the Golf Links road for a traditional sprint to the Victoria lunch stop. Drink fine ales to the panorama of coastal boats on the estuary, stunning views, big skies, Martello towers, explore the Ferry boatyard, and a popular jumble as well. Why is it called the Coprolite Run? The explanation is on the course notes. The jumble opens at 9:30am, the run sets off at 11:00am, the jumble re-opens at 2:00pm when the run returns.
The 1st West Anglian Run will start from Duloe Village
Hall and take in villages around North Bedfordshire and
Cambridgeshire in the area of Grafam Water and Kimbolton.
It will be about 25 to 30 miles with a stop. There will be
refreshment facilities at the village hall from 9:00am An
informal moped-style 'bring and buy' is envisaged, so bring along
items for sale or swap.
Directions: Duloe is ¼ mile West of the A1 trunk
road.
From the East: journey through St Neots town on the B1428, over
the river bridge and straight on at the roundabout (where the
B1048 goes right). Turn right at a mini-roundabout, follow
the road up hill to a roundabout, go straight on, under the
A1. The village hall is on a right turn in Duloe,
¼ mile after the A1. Call Alex on
01480 21933 or Ralph on 01234 403796 if you want to
know more.
EACC club stand at the Copdock Bike Show. Danny (01473 659607) is the one who does most of the organisation for this. During the preceding months he'll be twisting the arm of anyone who has a machine we think we'd like to display at the show.
Kneel's Wheels and the EACC AGM at Coddenham village hall. The last mopedjumble of the season combined with a tour of the quiet Suffolk lanes that stops at Grundisburgh Dog. The new venue means that the route will be a little different from previous years: the outbound route will be slightly shortened at the expense of a lengthened return route. It's a long time away, so we'll post more details later.
The EACC extends a warm welcome to
anyone who comes to our events - whether you are a club member or
not. All we ask of non-members is that they register as
'day members'. This is required for insurance purposes and
is free of charge.
